why company pending?

Every great company spends some period of its life as something that doesn’t quite exist yet.

An observation. a scribble in a notebook. A name without a company. A problem without a solution. An idea waiting for someone to say yes. That’s the space I love. The space between idea and ownership. Company Pending exist there.

We don’t need my name attached to every company we create. In fact, that’s the point. We want to create businesses that eventually belong to other people, businesses they can put their fingerprints on, grow, change, scale and potentially pass down or sell themselves one day.

Company Pending may create the beginning.

But the owner gets to write what happens next.

I’ve always seen the business before it existed.

For years, I’ve had business ideas in excess of amounts you wouldn’t believe.

Not just passing thoughts. I would see the name, the concept, what it could become, how it could make money, what the customer would experience, and all the possibilities surrounding it. I could walk into a space, notice something missing, or hear someone describe a problem and immediately begin building a business around it in my head.

For a long time, I thought that meant I needed to personally pursue every great idea I had. Eventually, I realized something different.

Maybe I wasn’t meant to own every business I imagined. Maybe I was meant to build them for the people who would.

That realization became Company Pending.

the experience behind the idea

My background is unconventional, and that’s part of what I bring to this company.

I’ve spent more than 15 years in the culinary and hospitality industry; as a Chef, entrepreneur, business owner, consultant, and operator. I’ve built my own culinary business, developed products and concepts, working in environments ranging from private service to large-scale operations, and experienced firsthand what happens after the exciting idea becomes an actual business that has to function every day.

Along the way, my interests expanded far beyond food. I’ve studied digital forensics, developed technology concepts, explored products, services, platforms and brands, and continued doing what I’ve always naturally done: seeing possibilities and figuring out how the pieces could fit together. And somewhere in that journey, I kept returning to an idea I’d carried for years: What if creating businesses could be the business?

Not selling people lists of ideas. Not handing someone a name and a logo. Actually doing the work to take an original concept from “what if?” to something another person could see, understand, acquire and build upon.

I created Company Pending for people who want ownership but don’t necessarily want to start with an empty page. Some people are incredible operators. some are incredible salespeople. Some understand people, numbers, technology, service or leadership. And some have the capital and ambition to become owners but haven’t found the right business.

That’s where we come in. We research. We conceptualize. We brand. We structure. We build systems. We develop the roadmap. We package the opportunity. And then we find the person who can take it somewhere we couldn’t.
